Ideas from Far East Asia

After spending some time in Vietnam, and trips around the region, I fell in love with some of the ideas for interiors here... so sharing some images that I love and hope to bring to life in a home soon

Rattan and cane... so cooling.. simple.. won't work in a place that is dusty though...

I think I am in love with this style of ceiling...

In combination with wooden pillars....

Thatched roof always looks lovely...in Vietnam they use certain leaves that are natural flame retardants

love the colour of the wood here... and splashes of colour in other elements...

What a lovely lantern... casually set in corners and alcoves..

What a lovely way to display woven baskets...

Lighting is my passion.... its what turns any room into a magical space

Or these lanterns....

Many homes in Vietnam have this piece of furniture... very handy and cleverly designed

and last but not least...what a beautiful play with light....

Child Clutter

For those of us with kids... the bane of one's existence is child clutter.. how does one organize it in a practical way that is still the kids room, and yet neat, tidy and pleasing to the eye... here are a few ideas

Colours are great.. cheerful and clean.. and love the utilization of space

love an organized wardrobe

baskets and containers are lifesavers as far as clutter is concerned

No need to suppress the artist in your child .. with this idea, putting away the "tools" of the trade is easy

these baskets make clearing up a cinch!

And if you are obsessive about organizing... perhaps colour coding your baskets?

babies and toddlers are tough with so many little things..but here is a beautiful idea

Hope these images inspired you. I am taking on projects to help people with idea to decorate. So if you need help please write to me at ayeshahalam@yahoo.com. Right now am dealing with clients in Vietnam.. but am willing to travel

Whimsical Spaces

I think every home should have at least one whimsical space... one's escape from reality... here are some examples that I loved...hope you do too...they don't need to cost a lot...

and you can turn an existing room into a room of magical whimsy with a lot of candlelight.. I like to use candles and fairy lights ....

and if you want to bring the same idea outdoors... it works there too

here is a perfect spot to hide away with your morning tea or coffee and a good book

or a spot for a tea party ....have always loved outdoor living rooms...

If you are a morning person...here is a lovely whimsical space to sleep
